Myrina, Lemnos Greece

Myrina (also called Hora, Chora or Kastro) is the capital of the Greek island of Lemnos. With its approx. 3.5 inhabitants, it stretches in the south-west of the island territory along two bays divided by a rock massif. The whole part of the island is quite undulated, and so offering splendid views on the sea, houses with coloured roofs, and especially magificent sunsets from its peaks. You can have a sit-wodn in some of the local tavernas renown for its delicious cuisine. You will find there beach bars but also town cafés and enough shops. Yet don’t expect any bustling nightlife as the general atmosphere of Lemnos including the capital of Myrina is rather calm and typically insular. Given that the town of Myrina was built along the coast and it is also the administrative centre of the island, the beaches are very well accessible, being the target of all the public or private means of transport not only from other places on Lemnos, but also its surroundings. The local beach is covered with a sandy mat and decorated with nice green vegetation, providing cooling shade during the hot summer days. With the perfect intensity of the waves, the place is perfect for water sports including windsurfing, water skiing or boat rides.
